Cayenne pepper is used for various purposes, most notably to relieve different types of pain, including back pain, joint or muscle inflammation, rheumatism, bruises, migraine headaches, cramps, psoriasis, even redness.

How does it work?

Capsaicin, the main ingredient of cayenne pepper, reduces pain and temporarily depletes substance P, a neurochemical that transmits pain impulses to the brain.

The salve is used only on closed wounds. Once applied you will experience a warming sensation and mild stinging in the treated area. The salve is intended for external use only. Immediate pain relief is not to be expected, depending on the type of pain you have it may take from 2 weeks to as long as 6 months to obtain the full effect.

If you are using it to ease arthritis pain, it will take at least 2 weeks of using the salve regularly before your symptoms improve. This condition requires a regular use in order to reduce chronic pain.

Use: It is recommended to massage the salve into the skin over the painful area, 1-2 times daily. After two weeks of regular daily treatment you will notice a considerable difference.

Caution: Avoid contact with eyes! The cayenne can cause severe irritation to eyes. Should it accidentally come into contact with your eyes, rinse your eyes thoroughly in cold water and seek medical attention.

Make sure that you wash your hands thoroughly after applying the salve as it can leave a residue on your fingers, which you may accidentally rub your eyes with later. To avoid this you can also use gloves to apply the salve to the desired area.

If you are using the cayenne salve on your hands, consider applying it at night and then sleeping with gloves on.

Not intended for children under the age of 12.

Please note: The salve leaves red stains on clothing (that will easily wash away) so if it should bother you, after applying the salve wear something old you don't mind getting stained.

  • Oil extract of cayenne pepper, beeswax, oils: peppermint, eucalyptus, rosemary, lavender, cinnamon, white pine, cypress.
